To help parents spend more time at home with a new baby and help employers keep skilled and valuable staff, the Government is funding a new Paid Parental Leave Scheme kicking off on 1 January 2011.
The Employers obligation to administer the system is voluntary until 30 June 2011 to give you time to make any necessary adjustments to your payroll system. From 1 July 2011, you will be responsible for providing Parental Leave Pay to your eligible employees who have or adopt a child from 1 July 2011.
