The BMO Story

BMO is proud of its history as a long serving business on the Western Downs. While our origins date back to the 1950s, the business, that later became BMO, officially commenced in 1990.


Today BMO Accountants is owned by four partners – all with extensive experience and strong local ties – Adrian Rasmussen, Kelvin Tyler, Michelle McVeigh, and David Briese.


Senior Financial Planners Mal Smith and Shane Lee are also Principals of BMO Financial Solutions. Through the partners’ leadership and their commitment to employees and customers, BMO has grown from around eight staff to a team of over 50. 


Over the years BMO has pre-empted and adapted to clients’ needs by adding new service areas to our business. We have moved from a traditional accounting firm to one that offers a range of services.


1990

BMM was formed with partners Browne, McKinnon and Moynihan – based in Archibald Street Dalby.

1994

Gerard O’Sullivan joined the partnership and added Chinchilla office.

1995

Firm changed name to BMO Accountants Group.

1998

Adrian Rasmussen became Partner.

1999

Moved to new custom-built building in Nicholson Street.

2002

Separated amicably from Chinchilla office.

Shane Lee joined BMO to head up Financial Planning division.

2013

David Briese became Partner.

2016

Partner Peter McKinnon retires.

2021

Oliver Holcombe becomes Associate.

2023

Helen Ruddy, Ryan Troe and Jack Staines become Associates.

2003

Kelvin Tyler became Partner upon the retirement of Martin Browne.

2005

BMO merged with John Derrick Accountants.

2008

Michelle McVeigh became Partner.

2010

BMO Financial Services merged with Mal Smith and team from Lifetime Financial Solutions to form BMO Financial Solutions.

2013

David Briese became Partner.

2016

Partner Peter McKinnon retired.

2021

Oliver Holcombe became Associate.

2023

Helen Ruddy, Ryan Troe and Jack Staines became Associates.
