David Briese to Retire in June 2027
BMO Business Centre has announced that Partner David Briese will retire on 30 June 2027, bringing to a close a distinguished career dedicated to supporting clients, strengthening regional businesses and investing in the communities he proudly serves.
David's retirement marks another important milestone in BMO's long-term leadership succession, following the retirement of Adrian Rasmussen in 2026. With the firm's next generation of partners already established, clients can be confident in a seamless transition built on continuity, trusted relationships and shared values.
Reflecting on his career, David says he is most proud of the role he has played in supporting regional communities while helping clients and business groups make informed financial decisions.
"The most rewarding part has been seeing clients put strategies into action and watching the benefits flow from those decisions over time. It's incredibly satisfying to look back with clients and see just how far they've come."
Over the coming year, David will work closely with BMO's leadership team to ensure clients experience a smooth transition, with plenty of opportunity to introduce the next generation of partners and share valuable knowledge built over decades of trusted relationships.
"The lead-up to my retirement is important. It gives us time to ensure knowledge is shared, relationships remain strong and, most importantly, allows me to personally thank clients for the trust they've placed in me over so many years."
David is confident the future of BMO is in capable hands.
"Our new partners bring fresh ideas, new knowledge and a genuine commitment to our clients and communities. They are well positioned to lead the business into its next chapter while continuing the values that have always been important to BMO."
Looking ahead to retirement, David is looking forward to spending more time with family, enjoying the opportunity to travel, and continuing his involvement with local not-for-profit and church organisations.
To his clients and colleagues, David offers one heartfelt message.
"I've been fortunate to work with so many wonderful clients and colleagues over the years. Thank you for the trust you've placed in me, for sharing your businesses, your challenges and often your most personal circumstances. It's been a privilege to walk alongside you, and I sincerely appreciate the confidence you've shown in me throughout my career."
David will officially retire on 30 June 2027.
