Oliver steps up to new role at BMO

BMO Business Centre Accountant Oliver Holcombe was today announced as an Associate at the local award winning accounting and business advisory firm. Oliver will join the management team headed up by the four partners of the business, Adrian Rasmussen, Kelvin Tyler, Michelle McVeigh and David Briese.

This is an enviable achievement for Oliver, who started at BMO nearly ten years ago as part of the Professional Pathways program.  He began in an administration role and progressed through to be an assistant accountant and then accountant, gaining practical experience while completing a Bachelor of Commerce. He has just one subject left to complete his CPA qualifications and says while challenging at times, BMO’s traineeship program has many advantages.

With a strong foundation set by his excellent school results, Oliver has continued to demonstrate his academic ability and technical competence.

“Starting in an administration type role gave me the basic understanding of how an accounting firm works. Interacting with clients on a day-to-day basis and working in a team gives you confidence and helps improve your soft skills. While having colleagues there to support and encourage you definitely helped me experience the practical side of the theory I was studying.” Mr Holcombe said.

Oliver continues to work with a variety of clients including primary producers, manufacturing and retail businesses. He also has a keen interest in cloud based accounting programs and is an integral part of the implementation and maintenance of our various systems and processes.

BMO Partner of 23 years, Adrian Rasmussen, praised Oliver for his achievements and the qualities he brings to the BMO team.

“We are really excited to welcome Oliver to the management team. He meets all our criteria points and ticks all the boxes – He is a young, tech-savvy, self-motivated, confident and personable individual who will bring a fresh and innovative approach to BMO’s management.

He has always displayed the highest level of honesty and integrity, is professional and reliable. We believe he is a driven and ambitious team player who has achieved and will continue to achieve great success and we look forward to being on that journey with him” Mr Rasmussen said.

A recent winner of the Dalby Chamber of Commerce Customer Service Award for his exceptional service to clients, Oliver has also taken on a mentor role at BMO for some of the younger trainees.

Oliver was humbled by the recent award and excited for his new role at BMO.

“Thank you to my family, friends, colleagues and the BMO partners for their support and I’m looking forward to working with the partners to lead BMO in to the future. BMO have continued to grow and develop to suit an ever changing business environment whilst remaining personable and approachable to all clients, I feel privileged to be a part of their continued growth” Mr Holcombe said.

With a team of more than 50 professionals, BMO has a strong focus on building relationships and supporting growth for local businesses and agribusinesses, along with wealth creation for individuals. BMO is an Australian Financial Review Top 100 Australian Accounting firm, is highly ranked in the ATO tax agents program, and this month received the Dalby Chamber of Commerce 2021 Professional & Business Services Excellence Award.
