New Director IDs required by 1 Nov 2022

All new and existing company directors will need to apply for the new Director Identification Number (Director ID) being rolled out by the Federal Government.

When you must apply depends on when you were appointed as a director for the first time:

  • From 5 April 2022, intending new directors must apply before being appointed.
  • Directors appointed on or before 31 October 2021 have until 30 November 2022 to apply.

Directors of businesses and entities of all sizes – including directors and corporate trustees of self-managed super funds (SMSFs) – will all need to apply. If you run your business as a sole trader or partnership, however, you won’t need a Director ID.
